Introduction to papers hereunder about video reporting on missions using mobile phones and entry-level cameras
 

There are an estimated 450,000 Christian missionaries (of all denominations) around the world. One of their overlooked needs, for many of them, is that they are asked to produce short videos about their ministry on their site of work.
 
This is why this simple web page was created, which includes a series of downloadable papers about Video reporting on missions using mobile phones and entry-level cameras. My aim is to provide affordable practical solutions for workers in the mission fields, taking into account their budgetary constraints,  in order to enable them in a realistic way, to produce short videos of an entirely acceptable quality with the limited resources available to them, whether for posting on social media, video sharing platforms or for projections at church services. 
 

This web page and papers were produced following online training sessions I gave to a missionary friend and his team abroad.

A properly equipped mobile phone is a serious alternative to mirrorless cameras and camcorders to produce documentaries, reports and stories, offering a more than satisfactory viewing experience to your viewers - for social media an church projections.

Your entry-level mirrorless camera: beyond producing videos with your mobile phone 

Although a lot of video productions for missions are made using mobile phones, I thought it would be helpful to present my personal experience with an entry-level mirrorless camera.

The prompter 

A promter or teleprompter allows you to read your text (script) directly looking at the mobile phone or camera. You are then directly speeking to your viewers.

When it comes time to buy a camera and to set it up, you're be presented with a whole range of configurations to choose from. This paper explains some technical characteristics of the camera imaging specifications.

There is much more than pressing the shutter button to take a good picture (and the same goes for videos with the movie shooting button). It all comes down to knowing your camera and its essential settings.

Although optional, these two items are sometime considered because of the benefits they provide to photography (the lens) and video production (both items).

This is optional, but for several missions a micro studio may be quite useful considering the different productions which have to be done on premises.

I am Pierre 

I worked at a nationwide broadcaster in Canada, in radio and TV production as well as in  maintenance. After obtaining a bachelor's degree, I worked for an engineering department, for which I evaluated broadcast equipment, provided training, and gave presentations to organizations such as NAB, SMPTE and VidTrans. I am now retired and I devote myself to faith-based media production and training.
